After a few years of social distancing and disconnection, many of us are missing and longing for real connection with God, one another, and showing up as our authentic Black/Brown selves. Even before the pandemic, the US Surgeon General noted that the biggest health epidemic in America is loneliness. It is human to want to know and be known, love and be loved, have people we be authentic and vulnerable with and be embraced and cared for. There's an African proverb that says, "if you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go farther, go together."
I'm EXCITED about feeling hugs, hearing a laugh or quiver in the voice, tasting foods, seeing our Black and Brown skin and smiles and facial expressions, and smelling the beautiful aroma of us being together FULL and FREE.
